Mad Poets Society is an Awareness events crew project that has ballooned over the last few years thanks to an awesome crowd of writers, singers, poets and supporters! We’re a grassroots group and always welcome new people to help make writing events happen.
The aim of the Mad Poets Society is to create safe, supportive spaces for people to share and listen to writing by the mental health and wider community, where it’s ok to read poems that deal with themes of mental illness, wellness and recovery. We know that people will have writing that deals with the themes of recovery and optimism, and the darkness of despair, and writing on both is welcome here.
Open Mic Nights
We’re committed to maintaining a supportive space for writers and this year are holding Open Mic Nights every third Friday of the Month from February to November at Beat Street Café.
Upcoming events:
- October 21st Open Mic Night 7pm Beat St Café
- November 18th Open Mic Night 7pm Beat St Café
- We hope to run more events in 2017!
